Got there just in time for Nucleus the other night. Was glad I got to watch Orion, their strongest song. Everything sounded great...
Bushido kicked ass, and were easily the band of the night, IMO. Just a shame their set was so short...
Superb Lyrebird were pretty good. Very "proggy", and bordering on psychedelic. I kind of lost interest halfway through, but they reigned it in at the end. Really solid band, that just need some more solid tunes I reckon...
Hinge, hinge, hinge...so much to live up to, and so much hype...
I loved the heartbeat intro, as it really set the mood. Going into their first song, they proved yet again that they are a great live band, tight as hell. The older songs really proved that. But as far as the newer material went, not so much. Played well, but a lot of them struggled to hold my interest, and for the majority there were no real "hooks" to speak of. Still, the great turn out seemed to enjoy it, and I am really happy for the guys, as the album is quite an accomplishment nevertheless...
I wish them all the best on this new journey, and hope bigger and better things come to them, as they surely deserve it...
Was also great just to see everyone. Plenty of old friends and acquaintances about. Good times...
8 Ball Junkies at The Lansdowne afterwards was absolutely hilarious. So trashy. They are living proof that you can be a shit band, playing shit songs, really badly, blind drunk, but still manage to make it entertaining. And Ceinwen is a great frontwoman. I'd like to see her play slightly more sober, as you can tell she's got a really good strong voice, with plenty of character...
