Karnivool are set to appease their eager fan base with the announcement of a national capital city tour in June combined with the unleashing of their highly anticipated new album ‘SOUND AWAKE’ due for release late in May this year. This is the band’s first headlining tour in over a year, their past three tours have sold out so fans are urged to ensure they get in early to avoid disappointment when tickets go on sale on Thursday April 23.

Karnivool is a band that defies conventions, their hands on approach with all facets of their career creates the need for them to work to their own schedule. Epic in scope and broad in nature, ‘Sound Awake’ is a realisation of time and passion and once again demonstrates the band’s care and thought towards the recording process. It’s been worth the wait, ‘Set Fire To The Hive’ the first taste of what’s to come will be unveiled shortly and is a sonic call to arms.

Guitarist Drew Goddard said today,

“Sound Awake was a true labour of love. From the outset, we decided we wanted to create something big in every sense of the word. We consciously set no limits and approached our creative process with little to no structure or preconception. When the music and inspiration came, we went with it. After around four years of stumbling through the dark, we've made it through with a second record that we are all proud of. We are extremely lucky and grateful that people everywhere have shown continued interest, patience and understanding. Sound Awake belongs not only to us but all those who stuck by for the ride.”....

A Karnivool live show has always been an experience to behold and on this forthcoming tour the band will be making up for lost time on the road by stepping up beyond previous performances. Some of Australia’s finest rock institutions will open their doors and welcome the band as they pull out all stops to make sure it’s a gathering of like minded souls as well as a kick ass rock show.

‘Sound Awake’ follows their ground breaking highly acclaimed debut album ‘Themata’ and although it’s taken an incredible four years to pull it together, the album is well worth the wait. Recorded in Perth and Melbourne since last October ‘Sound Awake’ will be released in late May. Tracked in a couple of studios and locations including Kingdom and Blackbird, the album was mixed at Sing Sing (Melbourne) and Blackbird (Perth) by Forrester Savell who was responsible for the band’s debut album and has also recently worked with The Butterfly Effect and Dallas Frasca. The album has just been mastered by Tom Coyne (DJ Shadow and The Roots) at Sterling Sounds in New York City.

Karnivool’s debut was a sleeper hit in Australia spending over 160 weeks in the AIR Charts; selling 30,000 copies domestically it built a huge fan base of avid devotees of the band along the way. It was released in the USA, UK, Mexico, Canada and Japan. The album’s title track received airplay all over the world and also made in roads into Active Rock Charts in the US where the band toured for several months.

Expect soaring melodies, spiny riffs, sharp technique, sonic textures exotic scale choice and time signatures galore from KARNIVOOL when they release their new album and return to stages this winter!

Wednesday night? :P

F... it's sold out. Both Sydney shows. Would've liked to have seen them at the Metro.
Maybe they'll do a third show there? Unlikely, I suppose.

I still don't own Themata. I feel so far behind that I don't know what to do. Buying both albums at once might distract from each other on their own.

Themata isn't that great. I mean, the production is outstanding...but I only really like about half the songs on the album...
