I used to go to Homebake every year since I was about 14/15.


Haven't been to one in years because the line up has always been pretty shite and definitely not worth the $80 ticket price.

I remember when it used to be under half the price...

Homebake, Sydney's all-Australian music festival, has sold out in a record 10 minutes over the internet.

All 20,000 tickets to the over-18s festival, to be held in The Domain in December, were sold out 600 seconds after going on sale at 9am (AEST) today.

The previous record for the homegrown event was more than four hours.

It comes less than two weeks after October's Great Escape music festival, which boasted international acts like Supergrass, Ladytron, The Futureheads and We Are Scientists, was cancelled because of poor ticket sales.

Homebake organisers hailed the impressive line-up of internationally successful Aussie acts, including Crowded House, Gabriella Cilmi, Cut Copy and The Vines, for its strong ticket sales.

"We are once again overwhelmed by the reaction to Homebake and do announce that Homebake 08 - Peace in the Park - has completely sold out in record time," organisers said in a statement today.

"Once again we extend our sincerest gratitude to all who have shown their support.

"With such intense and surprising reaction, we can at least proudly proclaim that the local music industry is well and truly in a healthy shape."

Also on the bill for the December 6 event are Sneaky Sound System, You Am I, Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson, Pnau and bluejuice.

More bands are due to be added to the line-up in the coming months.
