Yeah, I know.

Known for a while now... but since tickets are $48 + booking fee, through moshtix and I've been a bit disorganised, I haven't bought mine yet. But definitely will, unless it becomes sold out before I can.

I went last time (well, to one of the two shows) and I've been hanging out for me. He did say he was going to come back soon and seems to be a man of his word. Now I need to get myself that Monochrome album and stuf.... Sorry, talking to myself.

As if the prospect of Helmet’s upcoming tour wasn’t exhilarating enough, frontman Page Hamilton is promising something extra-special. As part of all shows, he’ll lead the new line-up through the landmark Helmet album Meantime from start to finish.

Meantime was released in 1992, and set the template for Helmet’s hard-hitting, vitriolic metal. The record is still seen as a triumph of intense and intelligent riffing, with incendiary lyrics to match. It’s a concise 37 minutes, too, meaning the band can play it live in its entirety and still have time to dip into the other six records. In its current incarnation, Helmet is Page Hamilton plus guitarist Dan Beeman, bassist Jon Fuller and Kyle Stevenson on drums.
I have the choice of being constantly active and happy or introspectively passive and sad. Or I can go mad by ricocheting in between. - Sylvia Plath

Dude! I've seriously got to get my ticket* AS SOON AS FUCKING POSSIBLE!!
*moshtix.

Self | is a Seed + MM9 are supporting too. Better than the support bands they had last time. I don't know how well MM9 will go down with their nu-metal leanings, though the down-tuning seems in place. Oh well... still, congratulations Edwin!
8)

PS: They did play most of Meantime during the previous tour, but to have the album in its entireity and in the same track order is fucking neat indeed! I agree with Luis and others on it being the defnitive opus work by Helmet (which has always been Paige Hamilton + backing band).

Well d'uh. John Stanier especially, but Henry Bogdan and Pete Mengende also. However, they were still just a backing band for what has always essentially been Paige Hamilton's work (and I was referring to the studio work above (re: "definitive opus"). Obviously that line up was the best live formation of Helmet and the best musicians Paige has worked with. The current line-up is piss-weak by comparison, but still worth seeing.

I have my moshtix.

Helmet to me will ALWAYS be that Meantime lineup...regardless of Page's obvious dominance within the band...kind of how Smashing Pumpkins will always be with Darcy and James, even though Billy wrote all the songs etc...

...etc. being that he (Billy) PERFORMED all the guitar and bass parts on recorded songs (well most of the songs, at least on some of the albums). And on stage they may as well have been cardboard cut-outs (damn! they should've done that!).

Yeah, I wish I was seeing the classic Hamilton-Stanier-Mengende-Bogdan line up. But even a fraction of that seems worth seeing to me. Oh well.
