Sandilands 'stuck for words' with Denton
Wednesday Aug 22 06:00 AEST

Shock jock Kyle Sandilands was left hostile and speechless during a yet-to-be-aired Enough Rope with Andrew Denton, according to an audience member.

Denton reportedly drilled Sandilands over the controversial caller "stunts" he and co-host Jackie O perform on their 2DAY FM show.

An incident several weeks ago in which Sandilands confronted a man over the phone about an alleged homosexual encounter became one of the central parts of the debate.

A person claiming to be the man's son had called in earlier claiming he had seen him in bed with another man.

The veteran journalist said by taking the step to confront the father with the allegations, he was in fact "playing with people's lives".

The Australian Idol judge was left "stuck for words" and in a "very hostile state", the Daily Telegraph quotes an audience spy as saying.

Denton also reportedly played a clip from the 2007 Logie Awards, in which comedian Dave Hughes calls Sandilands a "massive dickhead".

After being asked what he thought of Hughes, Sandilands allegedly said: "I hate him — the next time I see him I'm going to punch him in the throat."

Sandilands left the studios in a hurry after the interview was over, but his publicist yesterday said it was due to a plane flight.

"Denton always gets controversial but Kyle definitely wasn't upset or uncomfortable with the interview — he thought it was great," she said.

The interview will air on the ABC on September 3.

PETULANT shock jock Kyle Sandilands is prepared to go to jail to exact revenge on comedian Dave Hughes.

Sandilands has promised to punch Hughes in the throat - why the throat and not the face we're not sure - but he's intent on causing some physical pain when they eventually cross paths.

What sounds like a typical Sandilands grab for headlines could end up as an interesting time for Channel Ten execs as both personalities feature on the network.

The grumpy idiot judge is irate at Hughes, who appears on Rove most Sunday nights, for calling him a "dickhead".

"I don't care if I go to jail for three months, that guy needs a punch in the throat. Simple," Sandilands trumpeted on his 2DAY FM breakfast show with Jackie O.

The outburst yesterday follows Sandiland's appearance on Andrew Denton's Enough Rope.

Denton played a clip from the 2007 Logie Awards, where Hughes (say it through your nose, it's a more authentic way to pronounce his name) called Sandilands "a massive dickhead".

The Australian idiot judge returned fire with: "I hate him - the next time I see him I'm going to punch him in the throat."

Denton also referred to a situation that occurred on the popular breakfast program several weeks ago, when a young listener phoned in to say he had caught his dad in a sexual act with another man.

Sandilands took the extreme step of ringing the boy's father to confront him live on air.

While Sandilands tried to defend himself, saying his program was "an outlet" for listeners, Denton went as far as to suggest he was "playing with people's lives" by exposing their personal situations live on air.

The fiery Denton interview airs on the ABC on September 3.

Hughes strikes back with abusive 'apology' to Sandilands

Thursday August 23, 2007

Dave Hughes has hit back at Kyle Sandilands over the shock jock's recent threats of violence — offering to allow himself to be hit so Sandilands could go to jail.

The Melbourne funnyman today issued a 'public apology' after Sandilands threatened to punch Hughes in the throat the next time they met.

"What I want to say to Kyle is don't shoot the messenger mate," Hughes said today in his podcast on Nova FM.

"I am sorry. I'm sorry that you're a massive dickhead. It's not my fault though."

Hughes also poked fun at Sandilands for saying he would be prepared to serve hard time for the assault.

"If I let him punch me in the throat, he can be out and off for three months," he said.

"That could be a sacrifice worth making... I've got a fairly thick neck."

Hughes called Sandilands "a massive dickhead" at the 2007 Logie Awards, a clip of which was played during an interview Andrew Denton conducted with the Australian Idol judge that prompted the initial throat-punching threat.

The controversial footage is just one aspect of what promises to be a highly dramatic Enough Rope interview, where the host also probed Sandilands on some of his more outrageous on-air stunts.

Denton — who is renowned for his focused interrogations — referred to an incident several weeks ago where the radio host took a call from a young listener who said he had caught his father in a sexual act with another man.

Sandilands then rang the boy's father and confronted him about the incident live on air.

The shock jock claimed the defence that his program was "an outlet" for his listeners but Denton countered that he was "playing with people's lives" by broadcasting sensitive personal matters.

The interview goes to air on September 3.

Sandilands 'set to regroup in LA'
Friday August 24, 2007

Shock jock Kyle Sandilands is reportedly set to kiss Australia goodbye and move to Los Angeles, in the wake of his very public spat with comedian Dave Hughes.

Newspaper reports say Sandilands has been telling friends the relocation is imminent but is still negotiating the terms of his radio contract before making the news public.

Meanwhile, the notoriously brash presenter has said he's still ready to fight Hughes — and he's happy if the stoush is caught on film.

"If there's a fight it will happen randomly in an alley somewhere," he told Rove McManus on air today. "I'm not opposed to having it filmed."

The trouble between the high-profile pair stems from Hughes calling Sandilands "a dickhead" earlier in the year.

The acrimony lead to threats of violence and Hughes issuing an "apology" to Sandilands last night in which he voiced his sincere regret that "you're a massive dickhead".

Sandilands today described the comedian's comments as disrespectful.

"I read his press release yesterday which I thought was hilarious but it doesn't change the fact I've gone from being a huge fan of Dave Hughes and now I loathe and hate him," Sandilands said.

The much-maligned 2Day FM and Australian Idol personality has spent a lot of time in Los Angeles recently, where his girlfriend Tamara Jaber lives and works as a recording artist.

Apparently the move across the Pacific will not prevent Sandilands from fulfilling his morning radio show commitments — he will broadcast his regular slot with co-host Jackie-O remotely from Jaber’s home.

Sandilands has already hosted the program from a host of far-flung locations this year, including Jaber’s apartment and from the road on his Australian Idol nation-wide talent search.

Sandilands is expected to return to Australian Idol next year, when he will commute weekly from LA to Sydney to take part in the show.

 Why don't you go have a little cry about it, Kyle?! You massive dickhead!!
