So why is it ok for them to blatantly rip off bands, and get acclaimed for it, while other bands are chastised for having influences?

That's sort of my problem with them as well. It's not that are influenced by that stuff. They simply haven't added anything new to it...

i think that it's because what they're ripping off is bands from 30-40 years ago...

none of the idiotic, young, record buying fucks care because it's 'old peoples music being made good again' (apparently)

it's not like thay're ripping off a band that is a rival or of similar age/time... there aren't other self-righteous jaded motherfuckers who are having their favourite (read: popular) band being ripped off by wolfmother, and are standing up saying no. they're ripping off their dads favourite band(s) or bands that are still held in high-esteem by other musicians mostly but not the 'fashionable' mass music purchasing market. they only buy their shirts, not their records.

my mates little brother thinks wolfmother is a good band. we were quick to cut him down.
