    Pelican 4/10/2007 - Manning Bar

    Yes I know it has been.

    Caught Pelican last night at the Manning Bar. Warming to this venue, sound was excruciatingly loud. This time and the last time I went there to see the mind blowing CONVERGE.

    Anyway night kicked off with Sleepmakeswaves. A very solid set in the ISIS, Mogwai soundscapey kind of way. Highly enjoyable will definately check them out again

    Then onto Stockholm Syndrome. Have seen them many times and were a favourite for awhile. This was their last ever gig. Last night they were fucking TERRIBLE. Really really bad. They looked like a bunch of petulant try hard's trying to be tough...fucking awful. One of the worst performances I have seen all year. A real woeful ending to a pretty solid outfit.

    Pelican - what can be said. Fucking magic. I love their new album "City of Echoes" and they played it from start to finish with no interruptions. Great guitarist's and an impressive rhythm section. My gal had never seen them before but started listening to them on my recommendation. She usually is not a big fan of this kind of music but she enjoyed it immensely.

    Last night would have been glorious but Stockholm really fucked their own legacy in the ass.....

    Yeah, I saw Sleepmakeswaves last week, and they really impressed me...

    I saw SS once, and at the Lansdowne one Sunday afternoon, and they blew me away...

    :( I missed this gig.Pelican rock the boat,great music.Hopefully they will tour this lovely land again.Cannot comment on SS i have not heard their music.
    And Sleepmakeswaves a local Aussie act,keen and eager.
    They will find a niche in the market if they continue their current position in the sydney gig scene. :) Good luck to them,also cool and friendly people :nod:

    That is why it was such a fucking let down...they were awful really bad
