Splendour...

[quote]In response to the much-publicised ticket scalping which took place for the 2005 event SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS organisors have made significant changes to the ticketing system for the 2006 event to be held July 22nd and 23rd at Belongil Fields in Byron Bay. The changes, as outlined below, are designed to eliminate scalping and to ensure that the patrons attending the event have bought their ticket at its intended price.

“We were greatly disappointed with the obvious and calculated ticket scalping for the 2005 event which resulted in many people paying inflated prices to attend Splendour In The Grass. In response, we are introducing a new ticketing system that will make sure genuine patrons are able to attend Splendour In The Grass at the face value of the ticket. This new system is loosely based on the model developed by Glastonbury organisors who faced similar ticket scalping problems on a much larger scale. It is our first year of implementing this new model and while we have every faith in the system, we ask for patience with the process. We are committed to producing a good quality, value for money festival and we hope this new ticketing system will be embraced in the spirit in which it is intended,â€

Totally.

Bad luck to all the people that buy tickets and then someone dies or something and they can't make it. $160+ down the drain with absolutely NO way of selling or even GIVING their ticket to someone else that wants to go

I think this will turn out to be an empty threat to try and deter scalpers.

I think they will realise how much work would be invovled in checking the tickets on entry, and not go through with it hoping they will have already done enough at the time of sale.

I think it's an ok idea. something has to be done, it's getting stoopid to buy tickets to some events.
