Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has confirmed the band’s long-awaited seventh studio LP is all recorded and ready for release.
The guitarist, solo artist and composer revealed the details to Paste Magazine on Friday, causing a flurry of activity on the band’s official and unofficial message boards.
“We’re very relieved to have finished recording,” he said. “Now we have to decide what we should do with it.”
The question for the Oxford quintet now is how to release the album. After finishing their six-album deal with EMI after Hail to the Thief (2003), they have remained independent, avoiding all talk of contracts. One rumour suggests the band may remain unsigned, striking up a deal with a major label to handle only the distribution of the release.
Earlier in the year, clips from several songs appeared online, added to YouTube by producer Nigel Godrich. Track names revealed so far include Open Pick, All I Need, Down is the New Up, Arpeggi and Bangers ‘n’ Mash.
