whatever dude...

I have no time for commercial radio. Triple J stopped being good close to 12 years ago and became no different to any other mainstream radio station and if you speak to my elders they would say that it was it's last gasps way back then...

There are many other places where one can hear new talent and bands without the need to hear their songs 50 times a day...especially with the internet these days.....

so take pipe smoke it.

Still, it's the only national radio station that supports local talent...

It all depends on what your shit threshold is really

all radio stations play at least 40 - 50% Shit
it depends if you want shit songs that last for ever before you get a good one or,
a commericialy shit song that you know is only going to last around 4 minutes before moving on again.

j's are not that bad I have got to hear two Gomez songs this week

Countless bands owe their careers to the J's.

Living End, Regurgitator, MGF, FEL, Shihad, Cog, Grinspoon, Frenzal Rhomb, Silverchair...obviously Wolfmother....the list goes on and on...

yes but the style of new talent they play has narrowed more and more over the years. Their playlist has shortened more and more. Much like commercial radio the J's no longer give our youth a schooling in great music like they used to when I was growing up. I used to be a J fanatic.

Trends are followed as they are a "national" radio station they must fulfill certain listener needs..when that need was nu-metal they thrashed that to death, aussie hip-hop, safe guitar bands, pseudo hardcore, emo or mexican-peyote infused martian swing jazz so we will get a glut of those kinds of bands...

nothing too obscure or too far out...just safe

I fucking hate safe...

just my opinion....

Safe = Money

and for the ABC unfortunately that means they need to be safe.

I do agree though safe is useless

and that is the problem...the increasing need for the youth broadcaster to find "money". I am pretty good mates with Craig Shufton the dude that used to produce the Morning Show and some other stuff and such...it's pretty amazing how these guys decide what our youth should be listening to...record company payola..yeh I know it's an industry..I agree not complaining but what sickens me is the people that think the J's is any different from MMM or 2WS it ain't

back when our ABC could rely on federal assistance we had a radio station and at TV network we could be proud of. I agree the cash was there....with the Howard governments need to privatise anything and everything this kind of rationale came into play...

yes I am a pinko commie bastard....

Just because you don't like particular styles of music, doesn't mean it's "safe" or "shit" or "not great" or whatever.
There's no accounting for taste.

You wanted them to just keep playing the same old tired shit?
I for one I'm glad they've evolved over the years.
