you should contact bands and/or their management though... maybe you could sell them your photos? this is something i need to start trying to do (it's just hard because, like you said, so many people give the photos away for nothing... which i have done, but only to bands that are big or have the potential to become big... then if they use the photos it's great advertising, as long as you state that if they use the photos you require them to give you a photo credit if and where applicable).
