Former FEAR FACTORY Guitarist Seeks Bassist For New Project

Sep. 6, 2006

Former FEAR FACTORY/current ASESINO guitarist Dino Cazares is currently seeking a bassist for his as-yet-unnamed project, which also includes Tim Yeung (VITAL REMAINS, ex-HATE ETERNAL) on drums and Tommy Cummings (VEXT) on vocals. The group, which made its live debut Saturday night (September 2) at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California prior to ASESINO's performance as part of Dino's birthday bash (DECREPIT BIRTH's Risha Eryavec filled in on bass for the event), will be holding open auditions at Downtown Rehearsal 7th St. Studios (2155 East 7th St.) in Los Angeles on September 16-17 beginning at 2:00 p.m. each day. Requirements are as follows:

* You have to be between the ages of 25 and early 30s
* Must be capable of playing with a pick 16th notes
* Must be a profesional performer with tour experience
* Long hair (at least shoulder length)
* Someone who is going to be an asset to the band's live performances (i.e. "METAL AS FUCK!!!!!!!!!")
* Backing vocals (screams or melodic) is a plus

Commented Dino: "This is going to be a demanding position. There is only one guitarist in this band, so the bass will stand out live. If you're not up on your chops, please don't waste our time. This is for serious pros only. This will be a serious touring band, so tour experiece is a must. I will personally screen all responses, so please dont bullshit us. We are very serious, and this could be the opportunity of a lifetime."

In order to audition, you must learn the FEAR FACTORY song "Self Bias Resistor". To schedule the audition, contact Dino via his MySpace page. http://www.myspace.com/dinocazares

Cazares told BLABBERMOUTH.NET on Tuesday (September 5) that the new band is currently preparing to enter the studio next Monday (September 11) to begin pre-production for its upcoming debut album, tentatively due in 2007 via an as-yet-undetermined label. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Threat is Real", "Failed Creation" and "Savior Self".

According to one attendee who saw the group's brief performance at the Whisky A Go Go, the band's musical direction "was reminiscent of old FEAR FACTORY — 'Soul of a New Machine' [1992] meets 'Demanufacture' [1995] — but faster, heavier and more intense. After [the new group's] three-song set, Dino screamed from the stage, 'This ain't no pussy shit like new FEAR FACTORY is.' The over-packed crowd cheered as he marched off stage, only to return 10 minutes later to do a full set with ASESINO."
