Ticketek launches 'Reserve-a-Seat'

Ticketing agency Ticketek new CEO Geoff Jones told the Australian Financial Review that it is launching a new service called Reserve-A-Seat in December. It allows a customer to hold 10 adjacent seats at a concert or sporting event for a limited period (24 hours to a week, depending on demand) without paying for them. The customer gives 20 email addresses of colleagues or friends and gives them the option of deciding whether to buy the tickets. This way the original customer doesn't get stuck with having to pay for 10 seats, and Ticketek expands its database — which already has 8 million names on it. Jones also told the AFR's Neil Shoebridge that next year Ticketek will add more interactive features to its website.
